Pre-Register for the NYC OceanTech Summit

Plus Ocean Autonomous Vehicles, Underwater Communications, and Offshore Wind’s New Record

Hello Ocean Friends,

I just got back from a trip to the Caribbean with my wife for our anniversary - so no interview this week. Instead I’m going to highlight the upcoming NYC OceanTech Summit I’m co-hosting. In addition to your regularly scheduled (and delightfully charming and informative) BlueX content, I’m going to highlight a different aspect of the summit to get us all excited for it. This week, the basics, what exactly is it and who is it for?

If you can come, I hope you can join us, we had a blast during our inaugural event last year and will be expanding on the concept significantly.

Best,
Will

The NYC OceanTech Summit: What Is It? Who Is It For?

Tech in the Blue Economy is having a moment (shoutout to Aly Rose’s report for CREO). Communities of BlueTech innovators, investors, technologists, and founders are popping up all over the place. However, NYC has so much going on that sometimes our own population forgets that Manhattan is an island and it’s vital role in history, free-market economics, and American culture, is rooted in it’s start as a port city. Our vision is to provide an event that convenes and builds network among the in Blue Economy investors and innovators in the city.

For the organizing team, we get excited about new startups, inventions, and research. In a past life, I was a technology transfer officer at a research university. We use that anchor point (pun intended) to rally around for our summit: Lab-To-Market.

Who is it for?

Everyone is welcome to join us. We’d especially like to invite:

  • Researchers working in ocean-based technologies.

  • Early-stage founders building at the intersection of the ocean and climate.

  • Investors who are as excited as we are about OceanTech.

Find more information on our website and sign up for the pre-registration list. I hope to see you there.
